BLESS THE NAME OF THE LORD

Sue O’Donnell. 01.02.17

“I will praise Your name unceasingly and gratefully sing its praises. And my plea was heard, for You saved me from destruction, You delivered me from the time of evil. And therefore I will thank You and praise You, and bless the name of the Lord.” (Ecclesiasticus 51 v 10, 11, 12 TNJB)

I was failing, falling.

I was distancing myself from You,

Father, You reached out for me

By the sanctity of the Spirit,

Through the †of Jesus.

Such is Your mercy, bless the name of the Lord.

In all humility the second Person of the Trinity,

Took on human flesh,

Divesting Himself temporarily of His divinity.

He came to experience life like us.

Such is Your mercy, bless the name of the Lord.

Christ Jesus came too through love,

To show us how to live properly,

Feet fixed on earth, eyes on heaven.

He modelled the perfect life admirably,

Such is Your mercy, bless the name of the Lord.

As He longs to help our experience,

To assist this, to support us,

That we are not caught up in iniquity,

Jesus came to deliver us from this.

Such is Your mercy, bless the name of the Lord.

You held out before us,

The perfect rescue plan in the †.

Jesus achieved all that is necessary

For our eternal salvation and destination.

Such is Your mercy,

We must bless the name of the Lord, truly we must.

“If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son, cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1 v 7)

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1 v 9)

Such is Your mercy Father. Thank You for allowing Christ Jesus to accomplish this for us. Thank You for His sacrificial death after an exemplary life, in which He showed us how to honour You obediently.

Lord, so often we have erred and strayed. So often I have erred and strayed. I am so sorry. I am dependent upon Your mercy and ask forgiveness from You through my Saviour Brother.

I know “Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed...Righteousness will go before Him and shall make His footsteps our pathway,” (Psalm 85 v 10, 13) such is Your mercy to us in Jesus.

Jesus, Jesus, blessed Jesus. How richly blessed we are also, to have a Saviour amongst us whom we can recognise and identify with, whom we can relate to, respond to, turn to, talk to, commune with, such is Your

mercy.

He teaches us how to keep Your word, so that whoever can achieve this, Your love is perfected in us. Such is Your mercy, “By this we know that we are in You.” (based on 1 John 2 v 5) By this please continually cleanse us by the blood of the Lord Jesus.

I ask this in Jesus’ name as Your sacrificial Lamb, Father. Amen.
